Employee vs. Entrepreneur
If you had asked me a year ago if I’d work anywhere other than where I spent the previous 20 plus years, I would have laughed. I had been there since the doors opened, I was the top performer for years, I was treated well, and made a great living…..flash forward, and I’ve done it, I am now an entrepreneur rather than an employee and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done! After spending a good month trying to eat soup with a butter knife, learning what all of the people who supported my business did and how to do it, checking my gut, investing hundreds of thousands of dollars into the newest technology in the industry, checking that gut one more time, hiring my first employee and a final look in the mirror….I got this.
I’m very proud of our new firm, Wholesale Recruiting Solutions, which is 100% dedicated to the wholesale electrical distribution industry. We brought on our first, and brand new to me, distributor client, and filled our first position within 6 days of our LLC being approved. From there, it’s a lot of learning, some drinking from the firehouse, but I’m thankful for the experience. After doing the same way for 24 years, stepping back and taking a microscope at how I had done things forever, I realized that I’m that guy that says, ‘We’ve always done it that way’ and once I shook that off and recovered from the sticker shock, things have taken off like a rocket. The new technology is leaps and bounds ahead of what I’ve used before, and I’m so happy that I didn’t take the easy road. I bet on myself and the transition from owned to owner is a move I wished I would have made 4 years ago.
With that said, just a little commercial about the new firm…
We are Electrical Distribution Recruiting experts…that’s it, that’s all we do, and we are very good at it!
